Skirting - Skirting can be used to hide the 5mm expansion gap and prevent dust and dirt from building up. We recommend a sit-on skirting that is stuck to the wall and the tiles creating a smart and tidy finish whilst allowing the tiles to expand underneath. Silicon Mastic - The quickest way to seal the expansion gap round the edge of the floor is to fill it with mastic. This will prevent dust and dirt from building up whilst allowing the tiles room to move. We supply black, grey or translucent mastic. Click here to visit adhesives and mastics section
Adhesive - In certain circumstances it may be necessary to glue the tiles to the substrate for example a small freestanding area of tiles, tiles that will regularly be exposed to bright sunshine or areas where heavy traffic changes direction sharply. We recommend Uzin MK92S polyurethane adhesive. Preparation: Sub floors must be sound, smooth, clean and free from contaminants, which will prevent adhesion. Concrete must be fully cured with laitance removed. The surface must be visibly dry before the adhesive is applied. Under floor heating must be off for 48 hours before and after application. Line Marking Tape - Durastripe is a durable and flexible aisle marking tape designed for use in dry, indoor environments at temperatures above 5ºC. Manufactured from scuff resistant material suitable for cleaning with soap and water. Installation Guideline
ecotile is quick and simple to install and the tiles do not require a DPM or gluing to the floor. The minimum temperature for installation is 15ºC (minimum temperature for both the room and the tiles) and the tiles must stored in the installation area for a minimum of 24 hours before work commences to allow them to acclimatise. Installation should start from as close to the centre of the room as possible, install all full size tiles, allow the floor to settle and then cut tiles to fit up to walls and fixed points, leaving a 5mm gap for expansion. If the tiles are to be laid in an area where they will be sitting in direct sunlight it may be necessary to glue the tiles down to prevent excessive expansion, please consult our sales team for further information. Cleaning & Maintenance
Sweep and occasionally damp mop the floor as required. Application of a hardwearing floor sealer will help maintain the appearance of the floor and extend its lifespan. For an initial degrease and heavy duty clean we recommend ecotile Blast available in packs of 4 x 5 litres. To seal the floor and provide heavy-duty protection of the tiles we recommend our polyurethane floor polish available in packs of 4 x 5 litres. Coverage is 50m² per litre per coat. For general maintenance and cleaning we recommend ecotile’s non-alkaline cleaner available in packs of 4 x 5 litres. ESD Floors should be sealed and cleaned with Selstat anti-static floor polish.
