ecotile interlocking sports floor tiles are becoming the sports flooring of choice for many commercial and domestic gyms and when the facilities company responsible for a block of prestigious, modern, riverside flats needed to replace the floor in the residents’ gym they realised straight away that ecotile met all their requirements. Speed of installation was paramount as the residents would have been extremely unhappy for the gym to be out of action for more than a day. The existing carpet was taken up and 77.5m² of black raised disk ecotile installed over the concrete substrate well within the allotted time. ecotile does not need to be stuck down and so the floor was ready for use immediately. Additional advantages of using ecotile on this project were the impact and vibration resistance and also acoustic insulation of up to 46 dB – all important factors in a large residential gym.
